Excess Baggage
Excess baggage charges apply when a traveller's checked-in baggage exceeds the free allowance by the number of pieces permitted.
See our excess baggage charges by selecting your departure destination from the list to the left.
The charges stated within this section apply to Air New Zealand operated flights only. If your flight is operated by an Air New Zealand partner airline, you will need to check the rates with the airline operating the service.
For international journeys, excess baggage rates vary depending on the destination. You may also wish to contact our Air New Zealand Reservations or your local Air New Zealand Holidays Store / Travelcentre for additional information regarding these rates.
If you are travelling with excess baggage, please remember to allow sufficient time to complete the necessary formalities at check-in and also remember your excess baggage will be carried subject to space availability on your flight.
As an alternative to paying excess baggage charges you may wish to consider sending any clothes or personal items as unaccompanied baggage.
