Travelling or returning to New Zealand
Before your trip
- Check you meet the New Zealand Government's entry requirements as well as any countries/regions you will pass through in transit and on your return journey.
- These requirements may change before you travel, so be sure to check regularly. Failure to meet local requirements may result in denied boarding.
- If you are not eligible to travel quarantine-free, you will need to undertake 14 days of managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) on arrival.
- Most passengers arriving into New Zealand must register for managed isolation accommodation before they can be permitted to board their flight.
- We highly recommend registering for managed isolation before booking your flight ticket, to ensure accommodation is available for when you wish to travel.
- Once you have registered for MIQ, a Managed Isolation Allocation System Voucher will be issued to you, and you will need to present this at check-in.
If you are not eligible to travel quarantine-free, you can find out how to register for MIQ on the New Zealand Government MIQ website.
- If you are eligible to travel quarantine-free, you will need to complete the online New Zealand Travel Declaration before departure.
- You will need to complete a health declaration at check-in.
- If you have any pre-existing conditions you'll need to provide a medical certificate at check-in or you may be denied boarding.

- Most passengers travelling to New Zealand must provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result before departure.
- If you have received a COVID-19 vaccination, you will still need to take a test.
Check the New Zealand Government pre-departure testing page to see if this applies to you, and arrange any testing you may need.
Passports and visas
- You will need a valid passport. Depending on your nationality and destination(s), you may need additional documentation such as visas and permits.
- If your travel documentation is incomplete or inadequate, you will not be permitted to board your flight.

When you're overseas
- Passengers transiting via New Zealand from the United Kingdom or the United States must provide a negative COVID-19 test result before departure.
- Transit restrictions are continually changing and we strongly recommend that you check their website for information on whether you can transit or not.

- If you are not eligible to travel quarantine-free, you will undertake 14 days mandatory quarantine on arrival.
