Koru Platinum Nominee
Extend the Koru experience to someone important to you by nominating them to be your Koru Platinum Nominee (previously Elite Partner).
They will enjoy a range of Koru Platinum benefits when travelling with you or on their own. Benefits include Lounge Access, Premium Check-in and Additional Bags.
Koru Circle
Koru Circle lets you extend the comfort, priority and recognition of Koru Black to your inner circle. You can choose between two Koru Circle packages, the Family Package or the Friends Package. Family Package
The Family Package is designed to extend the comfort and care of Koru Black to your immediate family.
Your family can enjoy selected benefits whether they are travelling together or separately, helping every journey feel more memorable. The Family Package includes: one Koru Black Nominee and up to five Koru Family Nominees.
Friends Package
The Friends Package lets you share the way you travel with your inner circle.
Whether it's a destination celebration or a long-awaited catch-up, your friends can enjoy a premium travel experience, even when they are travelling without you. The Friends Package includes two Koru Black Nominees.
Status Rewards
Celebrate in-tier milestones with Status Rewards. Unlock rewards such as a Koru Black Banked Year and curated products and experiences.
Koru Platinum Banked Years
Enjoy another year of Koru Black benefits by converting the Koru Platinum Banked Year earned at 2,800 Status Points, into a Koru Black Banked Year at 5,000 Status Points.
Status Retain
If you're just short of retaining Koru Black, we'll gift you up to 70 Status Points so you can retain your tier and enjoy your benefits for another year.
Only available to use once every three years.
Status Points Bonus
As a way of recognising your loyalty and not just how far you fly, but how often, you'll earn 40 bonus Status Points every time you complete 10 qualifying journeys¹.
Status Points Rollover
If you retain Koru Black, any Status Points earned between 3,041 and 4,089 will roll over and count towards retaining your status next year.
If you choose a Banked Year at 5,000 Status Points, rollover Status Points from your current membership year won’t carry over.
Upgrades
Recognition Upgrades
Recognition Upgrades allow you to request a cabin class upgrade so you can enjoy a more premium flying experience, at no extra cost. You'll get three Recognition Upgrades that can be used on either Long or Short Haul, and two extra Short Haul Recognition Upgrade.
Recognition Upgrades are not guaranteed and are always subject to availability. Recognition Upgrade requests cannot be combined with OneUp offers.
OneUp™ upgrade
OneUp is like an auction where you bid what you're willing to pay for an upgrade to the next cabin class, or Economy Skycouch. With Koru Black your offer is given an extra 60% weighting, improving your upgrade chances.
You can pay with either Airpoints™ or cash, and you pay the amount you offer per passenger. You will only be charged if your bid is successful.
Gifting Recognition Upgrades
With Koru Black, you have the privilege of gifting a Recognition Upgrade to those on your gifting register. The perfect way to share the experience with others.
Airpoints Upgrades
You may also request a cabin class upgrade using Airpoints on Air New Zealand operated and ticketed flights. There are set prices depending on the aircraft and destination.

Your carry-on can be a combined total weight of 14kg, with a maximum of 10kg for one bag.
Additional Checked Bag

Hotel or Car Rental Upgrade Vouchers
Members with hotel or rental car upgrade vouchers received as part of their Elite membership pack have up to 12 months from the date of issue to use these vouchers. However, no hotel or car rental upgrade vouchers will be issued as part of the Koru Black membership pack.
